Formula explained
GPA = sum of (grade points × course credits) ÷ sum of course credits. This tool uses a common 4.0 mapping; institutions may use different scales or policies.
Example calculation
A 4.0 grade in a 3-credit course and a 3.0 grade in a 1-credit course give (4×3 + 3×1) ÷ 4 = 3.75.
Frequently asked questions
Does every school use the same grade-point scale?

Are courses weighted by credit hours?
Yes. Each course’s grade points are multiplied by its credits before the average is calculated.
Can I enter a course with zero credits?
No. Each listed course needs positive credit hours to contribute meaningfully to the weighted average.
